On the island of Madeira, classic and vintage cars are very appreciated. The Madeira Classic Car Revival is annual event bringing together a variety of old classic and vintage vehicles including automobiles, motorbikes and bicycles that were manufactured prior to 1980. The festival encompasses beautiful, exclusive and vintage cars in full action. Around 700 vintage vehicles descend to the People’s Square of Madeira to showcase and award the best classic vehicles in the region. 

The unique event kicks off with an exhilarating car race in which 80 of the classic cars take part in. The cars race through the streets of Avenida do Mar, Avenida Sá Carneiro, Rua Carvalho Araújo, Largo da Paz with the finish line at Rua Dr. Pita next to Quinta Magnólia while avid car enthusiasts watch on and photograph the adrenaline filled event. This race is historically important as it commemorates the first major race, the ‘Rampa dos Barreiros,’ that was held on the island in 1935. The Classic Car Revival Festival is one of the most hotly antici- pated events for motoring enthusiasts.
